Construction Impacts on NE 179th & NE 20th Corridors Related to Discovery Corridor Wastewater Transmission System (DCWTS)

Clark Regional Wastewater District (District) is notifying resident of the upcoming construction of the next phase of the Discovery Corridor Wastewater Transmission System (DCWTS), referred to as Phase 2B.

DCWTS is a 20-year, multi-phase program designed to expand wastewater conveyance capacity to keep pace with growth in the Ridgefield Urban Growth Area and the NE 179th Street corridor.

Phase 1 was completed in 2017, and Phase 2A (nearing completion) included pump station upgrades. Construction of Phase 2B, which includes work in the 20th Avenue corridor as well as the intersections of NE 134th Street and NE 129th Street, is anticipated to begin this summer. We anticipate hiring a contractor by this spring and will reach out to area businesses and the travelling public at that time with more information.

We anticipate the following construction impacts once underway:

  • Nighttime construction along 20th Avenue. Daytime traffic flow should be maintained.

  • At least one lane will remain open in each direction on 20th Avenue.

  • Temporary nighttime closures of I-205 travel lanes under the 20th Avenue Bridge (the freeway itself will remain open).

  • Access to businesses and essential services will be maintained.

The District is committed to consistent, proactive communication with residents, businesses, and community partners. We will share details about construction activities, the timing and impacts as we learn them.

Please let us know how we can best share information and coordinate with you as this project moves forward. You can find more information and sign up to receive email updates online at https://www.crwwd.com/projects/dcwts-phase-2/.
